Sisma S.p.A. is one of the world's foremost producers of cotton wool pleat. The group's factories produce and packed products in cotton wool pleat with their own trademarks, Cotoneve and Farmacotone, as well as products with the private labels of many of the most important trademarks of large-scale retail and organised distribution.
Sisma has always been concerned with environmental protection, with supplying maximum quality and guaranteeing hygiene for Consumers: the cotton used is pure 100% cotton wool pleat, bleached with hydrogen peroxide, without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives, and without the use of optical whiteners.
The production process for the cotton wool pleat line and its derivatives, (cotton buds, make-up remover cotton pads, cotton balls) is in accordance with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standard.
With a view to devoting increasing attention to Clients' requests for a non transgenic product, Sisma has also launched a biological cotton wool pleat product on the market, produced from naturally grown plants and harvested from cultivations that are not subject to chemical and organic treatments.

Make-up remover cotton pads

Sisma make-up remover cotton pads are produced through a technologically innovative process, which permits the firm to obtain a product with decidedly superior qualities with respect to traditional make-up remover pads.
After the cotton flock has been opened, with the mixing and homogenizing of the fibres, the carding operation takes place, along with the fibre randomisation process, which confers softness and strength to the make-up remover cotton pads and reduces knots to a minimum.
Finally, through a treatment with water under high pressure, the cotton fibres are crossed and tied. Make-up remover cotton pads are thus obtained that possess a high level of mechanical strength in all directions and which have a very compact surface, so that the pads do not come apart and do not deposit floss during use.
Thanks to their characteristics of softness and strength, Sisma make-up remover cotton pads are definitely among the highest quality products on the market.

Cotton buds

Sisma cotton buds are produced internally, with virgin polypropylene processing. The cotton wool pleat used is 100% pure and bleached without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives, and is treated with an anti-bacterial product and a preservative, which prevents the development of microorganisms and moulds.
The finished cotton bud is available in a vast assortment of packaging solutions, and microbiological tests are performed regularly.
In light of the new Italian law and the growing interest in many countries for a product that does not pollute seas and rivers, Sisma has developed a cotton buds line that is complete with biodegradable paper buds, in full respect of the environment, as well as a line of hydro-soluble cotton buds in mater-bi, a material for which Sisma holds exclusive rights.

Cotton balls

The production of cotton balls uses exclusively cotton wool pleat bleached with hydrogen peroxide, without the use of chlorine or optical bleaches. The cotton is then died with non-toxic colouring substances.
The particular processing confers an exceptional degree of softness to the cotton balls, making them ideal for any make-up removal and daily cleaning operation.
